Hi, I'm Winnie, an American author, activist and educator

I’m a Taiwanese-American and raised in New Jersey, but have worked in the creative industries across three continents. I’ve always been interested in storytelling in its different forms. I studied Folklore and Mythology at Harvard and later Irish Literature as a George Mitchell Scholar in Ireland. Over the years, I’ve written for travel guidebooks, produced independent films, programmed film festivals, and delivered over 200 public talks. I’m an Assistant Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham (UK), and my three novels have been translated into twelve languages.

What we
left unsaid

I’m excited to share that my third novel, What We Left Unsaid, will be published on both sides of the Atlantic this summer. A road trip story following three estranged Asian-American siblings on an unexpected journey down Route 66 – and a divided America. It’s finally hitting shelves this August 2025.
